Raymond School District
RENEW Program
Resilience, Empowerment, and Natural supports for Education and Work (RENEW) is a structured school-to-career transition planning and individualized wraparound process for youth who may be experiencing emotional and behavioral challenges, have a limited social support system, and need to figure out where they are headed. Developed in 1996 by staff at the Institute on Disability (IOD), RENEW is provided by schools, community mental health centers, community-based providers, residential treatment facilities, and IOD staff members to youth. This funding would allow Raymond High School to contract with Seacoast Mental Health Center (SMHC) to have their School Liaison who is a Certified RENEW facilitator, coach and trainer to support RENEW implementation in the high school this coming school year. (Informational Brochure about RENEW attached to this application)The district is sending three high school staff members to be trained as RENEW Facilitators through the IOD in October, 2024. The RENEW facilitators, with the coaching and implementation support of SMHC beginning in October 2024, will create a system to identify youth for RENEW (by the beginning of November 2024). The facilitators will then meet with those identified youth (3-5 youth per facilitator) to visually map out their strengths, interests, dreams, and people in their life. This information is used to set specific goals, make a plan, and invite supportive people to help them achieve their goals. This intervention will be provided to matched youth from November 2024 through June 2025. Through SMHC implementation support, the effectiveness and fidelity of the implementation will also be reviewed, with a year end report reviewed by July 2025.The goal is to provide RENEW as an intervention for up to 15 of our highest risk students in need of Tier 3 support over the next year so they can achieve their own personal goals for their futures. An additional goal is to create the system that will support RENEW implementation for years to come.
