New Futures will engage in a Story Collection Campaign centered on inviting those with lived experience in the children’s mental and behavioral health space to come forward and tell their stories. By sharing their experiences in the media and directly with legislators, we seek to strengthen awareness of New Hampshire’s Mobile Crisis Response system and to leverage public support to drive policy makers to expand and permanently fund the Crisis Response Teams.

Our goal is to engage younger audiences that may have more recent experiences they would be willing to share. We plan to do this by leveraging new media channels that include AudioGo, Spotify, and Meta. These channels will allow us to reach younger audiences that rely less on legacy media outlets, and more on podcasts, streaming services, and web-based videos. By inviting younger people to come forward and share their personal experiences, we hope to illustrate to lawmakers the critical need for permanent and sustainable solutions to New Hampshire’s mental health crisis, specifically Mobile Crisis Response Teams and the good they can do.

This creates a powerful opportunity to identify, recruit, train, and support individuals interested in sharing their lived experiences to help lawmakers understand the need to address specific issues related to children’s mental and behavioral health needs in New Hampshire. By engaging younger members of our community, we can not only deliver impactful stories that can sway the opinions of lawmakers; we also set the stage to recruit and prepare a new generation of advocates who are empowered to use their voices to drive New Hampshire’s legislative process.
