Dover Mental Health Alliance

The DMHA is a community-driven grassroots organization which runs on volunteers and passion!  We are now asking our community to help us continue the work of bringing mental health challenges out of the darkness and into the light. FREE mental health and suicide prevention trainings to organizations, schools, and community groups. Open, welcoming, and trauma-informed community meetings to: network with people and their programs within Strafford County and beyond, learn about new resources available to help people with mental health and substance use disorder, highlight programs from local organizations (monthly guest speakers). Free (or low cost) community events that bring awareness to mental health challenges and suicide prevention such as: Out of the Darkness Walks, International Survivors or Suicide Loss Day, Mental Health, Wellness and Recovery in the Workplace Summit, Partnership with dozens of organizations to help plan, implement and/or offer mental health education/presentations to broad community groups in the region. Partnerships include: Strafford County Public Health Network, Recovery Friendly Workplace, UNH Cooperative Extension, school districts of Dover, Rochester, Somersworth, Farmington, Milton, Dover Teen Center, Arts in Reach, Granite YMCA, Pinetree Institute, Dover and Rochester Rotary Clubs, Dover Chamber of Commerce, NAMI NH, AFSP, St. Anselm’s College, Dover Police Department, Haven, Cornerstone VNA (to name a few). Create Mental Health-Friendly Work “Places”, helping businesses and organizations build emotionally safe and supportive environments for staff and clients. In process of assisting other communities to build their own Mental Health Alliances such as in Rochester and Somersworth.
